I think about God creating the universe, about the Trinity intertwined in a beautiful dance. I think of a Christ who offered himself as sacrifice for every single human that has and will come, a gospel of so much hope to so much hopelessness…. All of these things centered around the most simply profound concept- love. Love covering a multitude of things, love becoming flesh, love shattering injustice, love restoring the broken…
Love bringing us here today.
And so the story begins, two people on different journeys finding their lives meeting in a beautifully tangled matrimonial weave, a union deeply rooted in the knowledge of love/Love.
Father Mother God I pray that you would deepen and strengthen their love until it becomes something close to the love that you have for us, the love that you have for the church
I pray that you broaden their compassion for the “least of these”- for the poor and the broken
May their lives become fuller and richer in the context of your love for them,
May they continue to grow as Ephesians says grasping the width the length the height the depth of the love of Christ, to know a love that surpasses all knowledge, that fills us to the full measure of all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:17-19)
And may that they find that they are not only deeply rooted love of each other but also securely found in the love of (family and) community
We are deeply grateful for these our friends and our family Nick and Ashley
And we humbly commit ourselves to them, to love and encourage
To weave ourselves into the tapestry of their lives
We commit ourselves to walking alongside them in their journey
To touch the divine, bringing slices of heaven to earth through moments of pure communion
May we support them as they continue this beautifully tangled journey.
In service, in love, and in peace we commit ourselves
Amen
