I want to inspire and encourage. Develop and work alongside them. Hear their hard questions and work together to discover creative solutions to seemingly impossible problems. I want them to feel safe and valued. Challenged and heard.
Six years ago this fall I became a Resident Assistant and since then I have never stopped loving the people I work with and for. Being a part of a team to provide students with the resources they need to be successful. Whether that be proofreading a paper or hearing their stories.
I absolutely loved hearing their stories.
I have worked in a variety of positions: Resident Assistant, Resident Chaplain... student leader in an organization that afforded me the great opportunities to teach and be a part of more lives. Currently working in an office that has students as its very reason for existence. Calming the fears of nervous incoming freshman, working with returning students as well... all of it seriously reminds me of why I am passionate about working with students.
And it also reminds me of all the people that have poured into me over these years. Coming in so incredibly unaware of the world around me and meeting women and men who were so willing to be apart of my journey. They have helped to shape me and I owe so much of my personal passion to them first showing me.
