Experiment #1: What would it look like if I didn't eat out at all for two weeks. At all. And, if every night I asked people to come over and sup with me. Community feasts galore. Quality time inevitable. Initiate immediately.
Experiment #2: I am getting rid of half of my stuff. 25% of my material possessions gone-zo. My goal is to eventually reduce that number to 50%, then to an overall of 25%. I admire minimalists. I come from a long line of pack rats and hoarders. I'd like to think of it as a generational curse (thank you Christian upbringing). Consider it broken :)
Experiment #3: I want to be more aware of the lyrical content of what I listen to. I have had a few conversations on this topic, and I have decided that I really want to appreciate music for the sheer beauty of it. So I will be creating a playlist of only instrumental music- from classical to rock ballads. I am also willing to bribe my musical friends to play their instruments for me. This might seem strange, but experiments are supposed to be somewhat nonsensical in my very professional opinion.
Experiment #4: I am creating a list of things I want more perspective on. And over the course of this experimentation phase, I am going to be asking people how they feel about things like beauty, faith, social justice issues, the church etc. Be prepared to be accosted. I will read, I will ask, I will learn.
Experiment #5: I am going to go one whole day without electronics... this means no cell phone, no computer unless for necessary things like school work and my job. This one will be a doozy.
I am going to document this series of experiments with regular blog posts, charts and graphs and perhaps even an academic paper to be presented via video- haha. Let the fun begin.

Are you actually going to do all of these?
SOUNDS GREAT. #1 especially. I have been eating out almost never lately, and having pals over for dinner, and it is better in every way. I think I would like to try #4 too.
